How to Make The Perfect Bed: A Complete Guide
How to Make The Perfect Bed
At Kiawah Island Getaways, our goal is to provide you with an over-the-top experience, and we believe knowing how to make the perfect bed is key to that comfort! Nothing makes our guests happier than a wonderfully comfortable bed. Over the past 20 years, we’ve perfected our bedding setup, and in this email, we’re excited to share how you can replicate it at home and how to make a perfect bed. And to make it easy – we’ve included links where you can purchase these items online (purely as a courtesy; these are not affiliated links). Let’s jump in!
Start w/ a 12” deep Cocoon Mattress
First off, the perfect bed starts with the right mattress. We like to use a 12” deep Cocoon Mattress by Sealy – available through Walmart.
The Perfect Bed Starts with the Perfect Height
Ensure the mattress height is around 32-34” above the floor for easy access! We achieve this by placing a box spring (we like this one) under the mattress, typically 4-6 inches deep. Use a box spring that is deep enough to allow the mattress to set just above the side rails of the bed. This makes it easy to tuck your sheets. Cover the box spring with a fitted sheet before adding the mattress on top.
Select some Egyptian Cotton Sheets
We love using Egyptian cotton sheets from Comphy. They are very soft, durable, and less prone to pilling.
Use an Overfilled Duvet
We have recently started using these European washed linen duvets with matching 26”x26” euro shams. Insert the duvet with a quilted down-alternative oversized king duvet insert. This fills out the duvets better than standard king duvets. The euros will need 28×28 feather inserts.
Top it w/ a Soft Fleece Blanket
We love to increase the fluffiness of our beds with these fleece blankets. They make our beds soft and inviting.
Add Goose Feather Pillows
Goose feather/down pillow inserts from Amazon, are super soft but still offer support for your head and neck. Always protect your pillow with zippered pillow protectors.
Finish it Off
Add three 26”x26” euro shams with 28”x28” feather pillow inserts, and top it off with a couple of 20”x20” patterned pillows, with 22”x22” feather inserts – or a wonderful 14”x34” lumbar (don’t forget the 16”x36” down insert)!
That is all there is to it!
But let’s be honest, even with the perfect bed setup, there is simply nothing like waking up from a perfect sleep to the view of waves outside your window. As the off-season approaches, there is no better time to enjoy beautiful weather and uncrowded beaches with your loved one at a great rate.
