The Treetops at Shipwatch

Certainly the updated furnishings and stunning hardwood floors are enough to turn heads in this 2-bedroom/2-bathroom quaint villa. But add the property’s limited but lovely oceanfront views from the living room wrap-around balcony, and its real treasure is revealed. Both bedrooms have their own private balconies as well offering calming views of the treetops.

Sounds of the Surf

With room for 4 adults and 2 children, this Kiawah Island retreat is well-suited for families and friends looking for the perfect combination of comfortable accommodations and ease of exploration. Located on the 4th floor at the end of a hallway, it is both private and quiet.

The kitchen is outfitted with granite countertops, stainless steel appliances and all the cooking utensils and gear you might need, and you’ll find plenty of space to whip up a classic recipe from home or try something new. Easy access to the dining and living rooms means friends and family can easily gather and move around the villa.

Strike up a conversation from the kitchen, pull out a board game in the evening at the dining room table or bond over a favorite film in the living room, which features a huge Samsung flat-panel television with soundbar and a Blu-ray DVD player.

Step out onto the living room balcony and enjoy your cup of morning coffee or glass of wine in the evening to the sounds of the surf and the lovely view.

In the master bedroom, you will find a luxurious king-sized bed with thick memory foam mattress and heavenly linens, wall-mounted flat panel TV with DVD player and a private bathroom.

Down the hall is the second bedroom, which has 2 queen-sized beds both outfitted with pillow-top mattresses and quality linens. This bedroom, too, has it's own private bathroom.

Additionally, this vacation villa is also outfitted with a full-size washer and dryer and wireless high-speed internet access.

About Our On-the-Beach Location

Of course, the beach will surely lure you from your home-away-from-home – as it should! After all, a vacation to Kiawah Island isn’t complete without a stroll in the sand, an afternoon lounging in the sand or time spent splashing in the rolling waves. To reach the beach, simply take the elevator to the ground floor and walk right out from the breezeway onto the boardwalk.

Don’t forget to check out the other attractions and amenities nearby, including ample shopping, 5 world-class golf courses, local restaurants and tennis courts. Thirty miles of bike trails meander throughout the island as well, so renting a bicycle is a must.

And, if you’re up for a day trip, consider making the drive to historic downtown Charleston, which is only a 35 minute drive away.

If you love The Treetops at Shipwatch’s location, you might also be interested in the 2-bedroom Sandpiper or 1-bedroom Vista, both located in this same building.

Guest Reviews

The Condo was clean and well decorated. We loved the beds and linens. The kitchen was well stocked. by L. Sweeney 07 Oct 2018
We really enjoyed our stay, wish we knew the tennis courts and the straw market had been torn down, was part of the reason we rented that location, but it is a very clean and well appointed condo. The kitchen is a little small, but has everything you need. The beds and linens are great, our daughters loved the queen beds in their room and the king in the master is very comfortable, the pillows not so much. The ocean view is limited, but good from the living room and that part of the deck.
The property was amazing! Attention to every detail! Close to the beach. Will definitely rent again! by L. Bain 04 Oct 2018
The owners made sure they provided a true vacation experience! Luxury bed linens, incredibly stocked kitchen... even the closet had beach towels, and extra blankets! The furniture was clean and comfy... not stiff like most rental units! Truly a beautiful, comfortable
Fantastic Getaway! by J. Bertling 20 Jul 2018
"The Treetops was absolutely perfect for my husband and I. We made a quick trip following a few nights in Charleston. This was our first stay on the island but will certainly not be our last. Kiawah Island Getaways thought of everything! The condo truly felt like a resort. Linens, beds, furnishings were fabulous. We will continue to book with Kiawah Island Getaways! Do yourselves a well deserved favor and stay beachside as often as absolutely possible."
Very lovely condo! by J. Merril 17 Jun 2018
"The owners thought of everything from being greeted with fresh flowers and soft music to a well stocked condo with plenty of paper towels, toilet tissue, dishwashing supplies, beach towels,... And it had an in-unit washer and dryer! The beds were super comfortable! We've been coming to Kiawah for 22 years and felt very much at home in this condo. We will definitely look forward to renting from Kiawah Island Getaways again! "
Great condo!!! by A. Boiter 14 Jun 2018
"This condo was wonderful. It was clean and had everything we needed and more! The owners go overboard in making their guest feel welcomed and appreciated. "
Perfect condo - we can't wait to return! by A. Hood 04 Jun 2017
"We've come to Kiawah every year for the past 7 years (and will continue to do so for many years to come), but this was our first time staying in this particular condo. Having stayed at Ship Watch before, we knew what to expect as far as location, but we were so impressed with the level of detail and attention we received having booked with Kiawah Island Getaways. The view from the condo was so beautiful - my husband and I enjoyed sharing a bottle of wine out on the balcony at night after we put our girls to sleep. There were fresh flowers upon arrival, the condo was immaculate and beautifully decorated, and the beds were amazing. The kitchen had everything we needed, and the bathrooms came well appointed with luxurious towels, shampoo and body wash, makeup remover wipes, and even beach towels and a small beach cooler in the master closet. We have two young daughters (3 years and 1 year), and the family DVD library was a nice touch as well for the one rainy day we had during our stay. Honestly, if we owned a condo at Kiawah, it would be just like this one - it felt like our own home from the moment we walked in. We will absolutely stay here again, and cannot wait to come back! Thank you for everything, Jeanette!"
Perfect condo for a small family by A. Nixon 08 Apr 2017
"Comfy beds and beautifully decorated. Easy walk to the beach and nice views of the water from one of the balconies. Recommend bringing a collapsible cart or stroller to load all your Luggage and groceries to and from the car."
We'll Be Return Customers! by R. Almon 04 Aug 2016
"We had a wonderful time at the apartment! It was clean and organized. Everything you could need for a perfect vacation was included - beach towels, games, books, chairs, etc! They even included a book full of suggestions for dining out, activities, and day trips. The location was such a short walk to the beach and we were able to ride our bikes everywhere! It is very close to fresh fields and about 30 mins from Charleston! The beds were so comfy and check in/check out was a breeze. We loved everything about this apartment, especially the porch area, and will definitely be coming again!"
As good as it gets..... by L. Pett 28 Jul 2016
"Although our first time to Kiawah, my wife and I have travelled extensively. In our experience, this was as good a rental experience and as nice a property as you will find. Although it would probably be tight for 6, we had our 2 teenage sons, and found the place nearly perfect for four.

It was appointed in a high quality and tasteful manner rarely found in rentals. The unit and the complex is quiet and relaxing. The unit is on the end of the complex, and the view of the beach is narrow, (between the adjacent unit wall, and the treetops) but charming, and enough to enjoy while relaxing on the terrace, and to allow "surf report".

Plenty of towels, linens, etc, all comfortable, nice quality, and clean. Kitchen is very thoroughly equipped, but small and limited in dry food storage - not a problem if you're planning on dining out a lot.

Building lacks ground level storage for beach gear - chairs, umbrella, etc. but we simply carried the up and down and stored them on the balcony. I wouldn't rent them - the rentals are always set up at the dune, which at lower tide is very far from the surf. Bikes will also be exposed - kind of a drag, but common.

Shawn and Jeanette, who we met in person as we were leaving, really care about the properties and the guest experience. You won't be disappointed."
Don't Go Anywhere Else! by J. Pett 28 Jul 2016
"Best possible Kiawah experience for a beach condo rental - don't go anywhere else. Unit was high quality in all aspects and very well appointed , down to a cooler for the beach, and a binder full of local information. Rental process was super easy. Communication was swift and thorough. The 'no check in' arrival was ideal for driving in from out of state. Condo was everything you hope for - lovely, clean, comfortable, well appointed and well located. Bike and beach storage was our only minor gripe - bikes racks are exposed outside, and beach stuff needs to be lugged to and from the unit, which was a minor hassle, especially with a SUP (stand-up paddleboard). It is clear Shawn and Jeanette who own and run the company really care about the properties and about the guest experience. They are easy to get a hold of, and very responsive. We highly recommend renting from them."
Another Fabulous Vacation! by N. Mian 19 Jun 2016
"This was our third time visiting Kiawah. When we were looking for a place to stay few years ago we found Kiawah Island Getaways, and we were happy to rent the property through Shawn and Jeanette. They are wonderful. They thought of every single detail. The property is tastefully decorated. The kitchen is fully equipped, beds are comfortable and linens/towels are great quality. The property also has a washer and dryer which was great when traveling with kids. We are planning on visiting Kiawah next year. It became our family's favorite place."
An INCREDIBLE Vacation!! by L. Hudson 06 Jun 2016
"My wife researched a great deal to find this property. We were not at all disappointed! Let me first brag on Shawn and Jeanette Lawson who are the property managers. They were responsive to all of our communications and when we arrived we were instantly greeted with very nice touches that made us feel at home. The villa is very clean with great amenities. Fully functional kitchen, great bathrooms and extremely comfortable beds. The entire complex is very quiet and upscale. The beach access has a nice boardwalk and the beach itself was never crowded during our week. Some other things you should know: I personally wouldn't classify this property as Oceanfront. You only see a sliver of the ocean from the main balcony because of tree obstruction and the rest of the buildings. If you are looking for a vista of the ocean, it won't be this property. The 55-inch TV is nice, but I'd like to make a plea to the owners to upgrade to an HD cable service! You are provided a door code on the property for check-in so there is no need to stop by a rental office - that made it so easy!! Lastly, we are generous tippers when it comes to anyone who provides service to us. I never felt compelled to tip the young workers who provided the umbrella and beach chair service. The guys were not overly friendly and most mornings our chairs had quite a bit of sand in them and had been setup where dead seagrass had settled from the tides. I felt like they could've made a better effort to clean the area and chairs. Despite those few minor things I stand by my 5-star rating of this property and the vacation we had."
We returned to Kiawah after 14 years and were not disappointed! by J. Irwin 31 Jan 2016
"We returned to Kiawah after 14 years and were not disappointed! The condo at Shipwatch was fantastic and met all expectation. We will be back and definitely will use Kiawah Island Getaways!"
AWESOME!!!! by S. Puckett 23 Dec 2015
"I did lots of research to find the perfect condo for our first trip to Kiawah. I found it. The owners keep it very clean and very well supplied. My husband and I were there for almost 4 weeks so I did lots of meal preparation and everything that I needed was there. Linens were all top quality and the furniture was comfortable. Top floor also makes it quiet. The pictures and descriptions were accurate. We would love to return and highly recommend this condo. Kiawah is a beautiful island and we loved exploring on the bike trails."
Kiawah Island Gem! by J. Carli 07 Nov 2015
"Excellent location on beautiful Kiawah Island. Wonderfully decorated, ultra clean, with high quality materials throughout. Our experience matched the VRBO property description and photos perfectly! As two old college friends escaping the daily grind for a long Mom's weekend away, this property was perfect with plenty of room to spread out. Two generously sized bedrooms with luxury linens, comfortable bathrooms and every detail considered. When the rain kept us indoors, we found the condo to be comfortable and filled with resources to stay warm & cozy. We made ample use of the DVD player & movies, enjoyed the Keurig machine so we could personalize our hot beverage preferences, and even had cozy throws to keep us warm as we relaxed with a good book. The views and proximity to the beach were perfect! We found the condo location very convenient with quick access off the island when we wanted to explore beyond Kiawah. Also helpful for us was the short drive to the Freshfields Village shopping area which was great for any grocery needs, restaurant choices, and shopping. Overall I would highly recommend this location, the Treetops unit, and would feel totally comfortable renting any property listed by Jeanette & Shawn!"
Relaxing Week! by K. Harrison 26 Sep 2015
"Perfect location for two couples. 2BR and 2BA gave everyone privacy and comfort in a beautifully decorated condo with a beautiful view of the ocean. The deck with the view in the morning for coffee was a treat. Found everything to be just as advertised on the website - no surprises. The little touches were especially nice - the beach towels for guest use, the cooler for the beach, the umbrella in the closet, and ice pack in the freezer to mention a few. We had several minor issues when we got there and were able to reach Jeanette and Shawn immediately for resolution (and I think they were on vacation)! The information book is invaluable - we went through it page by page and ate at nearly every restaurant! We even added one! All in all it was a great week and we would all heartily recommend any properties listed by Kiawah Island Getaways! Thanks!"
Great Stay! by K. Tressler 08 Aug 2015
"We had such a great experience at The Treetops! We are a family of 4 with two small children. The apartment was SUPER clean, very tastefully decorated, comfortable, and had everything we needed for a wonderful stay on Kiawah. They even had tons of little extras (toys for kids, movies, books, etc). The management company also went above and beyond with tons of local info, maps, beach rental options, etc.

We really can't say enough about this property. We will be back.

The only negative is that you don't have access to everything on the island. Some of the pools, etc are only available for guests of the golf resort. This, especially, made it tough because there was a super sweet pool, directly across the street, that we couldn't use. This drove my kids crazy. Other than was awesome."

Kiawah Girls Weekend by L. McClain 24 Jun 2015
"Three of us rented the apartment for a vacation weekend on Kiawah. The Treetops at Shipwatch was a great location, close to the first gate. The apartment was very clean and updated, with newly remodeled baths and kitchen. Easy beach access, and the 4th floor location at the end of the hall was perfect and quiet. The kitchen was well appointed, I didn't need the Espresso machine I brought from home! The welcome book was very helpful. All in all I would highly recommend. Even wifi ready."
Best Condo in Shipwatch!! by C. Frechette 24 May 2015
"We have been vacationing on Kiawah for 15 years and love Shipwatch because of the excellent location on the island and close to access off too!! This is the cleanest, most well appointed condo we have stayed in thus far. The kitchen had everything you would need and the layout had privacy doors for each bedroom so it was very private and nice. The condo is at the end of the hallway which is quieter also. All extra arrangements for bikes and beach umbrella were handled by the agent and clearly and promptly arranged. The washer/dryer in the unit is a huge plus. The only downside was because the kitchen was so well appointed, I had to make room for my own dry grocery items!!! Encourage you to eat out anyways!!! Not a bad thing on vacation. The welcome booklet was fabulous with a plethora of information. I definitely recommend the Treetops at Shipwatch for your vacation!!"
This was our family's first trip to Kiawah, and we had no idea what to expect. by M. Loszewski 05 Apr 2015
"This was our family's first trip to Kiawah, and we had no idea what to expect. We were so happy with Treetops at Shipwatch, and we couldn't have asked for a better location or nicer villa! Kiawah delivered on everything we had heard from friends, and Shipwatch was a real find. The villa is perfectly situated on the island with a private boardwalk to the pristine beach, which was never very crowded. And, it's a very short bike ride in one direction to the little Freshfields shopping center with restaurants, grocery and shops, or in the other direction to the Sanctuary Hotel. In a pinch, there's also a restaurant next door, as well as an ice cream shop. The villa was very clean, comfortable, modern and completely stocked with everything we needed -- the kitchen is well appointed; beach towels were very much appreciated; linens are all very nice! The bedrooms were cozy and quiet, we all slept very well. We also enjoyed relaxing on the balcony overlooking the ocean. We appreciated the binder prepared by Jeanette and Shawn with all their recommendations and ideas. Our two children, ages 8 & 11 loved the villa, too. We all felt totally at home. This was a wonderful and completely worry-free Spring Break. We plan to return!"
This was our honeymoon 30 years later. by B. Keefe 18 Nov 2014
"The reservation process was very accommodating which was important for us since we were not sure until fairly late whether or not we would be able to get away for the dates we wanted. The villa was luxurious! We didn't want for anything. The view of the ocean and the proximity to the beach were spectacular. We ate out two nights and one lunch and bought items at the local grocery store at Fresh Fields for our other meals. When we planned the trip, we thought we would go to Charleston for a day, but we were content to stay put."
Shawn and Jeanette made this a special weekend for my boyfriend and I! by C. Laverick 01 Nov 2014
"Shawn and Jeanette made this a special weekend for my boyfriend and I! Very romantic and quiet getaway on the ocean front at Kiawah. The view of the ocean from the balcony while limited was excellent. We watched loads of Dolphins playing and feeding in the waves as we enjoyed out bottle of wine from the balcony! Villa is excellent."
Our visit to the Treetops Villa was fantastic. by A. Attea 23 Oct 2014
"Everything you need is included. Accomodations were very clean, neat and the beds were fantastic! Shops, grocery stores, and restaurants were very close. Biking, beach, golf all at your finger tips. We were very happy and highly recommend the Treetops at Shipwatch. "
We had a wonderful time at Treetops - it was a beautiful property and totally updated. by B. McMurray 01 Jun 2014
"We had a wonderful time at Treetops - it was a beautiful property and totally updated. As owners of condos in the past, we appreciated all the amenities, cleanliness and information the owners provided. The beds are excellent as are all the furnishings. There is a limited ocean view but still gave you the sound and wind and view sitting outside."
Just like home - maybe better. by D. Rytych 30 Mar 2014
"This, our second stay with Kiawah Island Getaways, we were joined by our daughter and son-in-law. The Treetops Villa welcomed us in a perfect state of readiness. We were greeted by music, a streaming photo montage of the island and a personalized note, a wonderful first impression. The Treetops space was impeccable (we are super fussy!!), comfortable and roomy with a thoughtful floor plan for privacy. The unit was stylish, contemporary and cozy in decor. This, a corner unit with three separate balconies allowed for an outdoors-in feeling and a nice cross breeze. Whether you choose to prepare a meal or not, the galley kitchen stood ready and stocked. The baths were bright, pretty and updated, in perfect working order with plenty of very nice towels. We loved having a washer/dryer right in the unit, it's a must when staying on the beach! You will find all your beach needs, from towels to a cooler, basket and more tucked away in a closet, along with a fun collection of books, games and dvds. We liked the modern touches of technology, wifi, sound bar, entertainment systems in all rooms and state of the art (easy to use) Nest thermostat We noticed and appreciated the smartly placed lighting throughout the villa. The Lawson's three ring information binder with menu, directions and such was a helpful and nice touch. We will definitely return to beautiful Kiawah and rent this or another unit from Kiawah Island Getaways again! Rent with complete confidence from Kiawah Island Getaways."
Our family vacationed in an oceanfront Shipwatch condo for several years before buying a condo further up the SC coast. by D. Beacham 14 Jun 2013
"Our family vacationed in an oceanfront Shipwatch condo for several years before buying a condo further up the SC coast. My husband and I missed Kiawah so we rented the "Treetops" for a getaway weekend. The condo is well appointed and attractively decorated. The bed, bedding and towels were luxurious, the kitchen was well equipped; Kiawah Island Getaways even provided beach chairs, beach towels, a beach bag and a cooler! The fresh flowers on the table were a really nice touch! The condo's view of the beach and ocean is limited but you can enjoy the view from the living room balcony. We prefer West Beach to East Beach; it's less developed and less crowded on that end of the island. We dined at Hege's in Freshfields Village Friday night and loved it! Dinner at Jasmine Porch at The Sanctuary was also enjoyable, but the highlight of Saturday night was drinks on the verandah at the Ocean Course clubhouse. What a view! Kiawah is a great vacation place!"
