Go Beach Biking
Kiawah Island’s beach has 10 miles of bike-able flat, hard-packed sand. Simply situate yourself with your back to the wind and sail down the beach! Rent your beach bikes here.
Relax Under a Umbrella
Nothing is better than a relaxing day on the beach under an umbrella with your toes in the sand.
Hunt for Sand Dollars
During low tide you’ll be able to walk out into the ocean and search for sand dollars with your toes.
Picnic at Beachwalker Park
Kiawah’s Beachwalker Park is a short stretch of Kiawah’s 10-mile long beach where everyone, even people without access to the rest of the island, can access the beach. With lifeguards manning the beach during peak seasons, parents can allow their children to take to the waters without worrying about safety. There is a picnic area complete with grills so you can create your favorite barbecue to enjoy. The dressing area and clean restrooms all help to make the beautiful Kiawah Beachwalker Park more attractive to visitors not staying on the island. The ramp and boardwalk are both handicap accessible so everyone can enjoy the beautiful sights this stretch of sand and water offer.
Enjoy the Sunrise, Sunset and Stars
Kiawah’s beach runs East-West, so in the morning bring your portable beach chairs and watch the sun rise on one end of the beach. Return in the evening with your chairs and a glass of wine to watch the sun slowly sink below the horizon. Stay even later to see the stars begin to pop out in the sky. It’s magical – so don’t be in a hurry.

Let Your Children Splash Around the Tide Pools
At mid-tide you’ll notice the water line rises closer to the dunes and small tide pools begin to form where the ocean water gets trapped between mounds of sand. The tide pools are the wonderful for toddlers to play with the slurry of sand between their fingers. Bring some plastic cups and they’ll be endlessly entertained filling them with ocean water and sand, then dumping them out again.
