There are plenty of reasons to go on vacation. But one of the most important is to find a way to relax and unwind. This means being able to get a good night’s sleep. This is something that our team at Kiawah Island Getaways focuses on. Here are some of the things we do to make sure that you have a great night’s sleep at our villas.
Why a Good Night’s Sleep is so Important When on Vacation
Getting a good night’s sleep is about more than just not being tired. It’s also important for your mental health. Poor sleep habits have been linked to depression and anxiety. However, the busy daily grind often means that many of us aren’t getting enough sleep. Going on vacation is a great chance to catch up on the sleep that you might have been missing. Because of this, many people notice that they sleep for longer on vacation. If you want more detail on the importance of sleep and get some tips to improve the quality of your sleep on your vacation, check out this article.
1) Relaxing Surroundings
Your ability to sleep is often linked to your mental state. Feeling stressed out will leave you feeling unable to get to sleep. The good news is that staying in one of our Kiawah Island Getaways provides the perfect spot place to de-stress. You can sit and relax, watching the waves wash on the sandy beach. If you come at the right time of the year, you’ll be able to see the beauty of turtle hatchlings being born. You can also unwind with a game of tennis or golf. Or you can stay in your rental property and enjoy the stunning ocean views.
2) Comfortable Mattresses
One of the most important elements of a comfortable bed is the mattress. Because of this, most of our properties offer memory foam mattresses with memory foam toppers. These will contort to the shape of your body, so you are always getting the support you need. Because of this, it will feel like you are sleeping on a cloud.
The ideal height of your mattress is generally around 32”. Since beds vary quite a bit in structure, based on the height of the platform the mattress will sit on – whether it is the top of the platform mattress or the top of the box spring. If you require a box spring, make sure the box spring is deep enough to ensure the top of the box spring sits about 2” above the top of the bed railing. Your topper and mattress sit on top of the box spring or the bed’s platform. The topper is best if it is 4”. The thickness of the mattress is 32” minus 4” (the topper thickness), minus the height of the box spring, or platform.
You can get the same mattress experience at home, be sure to invest in a quality mattress. We purchase all of our toppers and mattresses from Costco, however, to give you a better idea of what to look for, check out this guide to stomach sleeper mattresses.
3) Luxury Pillows
We have also invested in purchasing high-quality pillows. We use natural goose down feather pillows, which are known for their softness. They are also known for being one of the most luxurious sleeping materials around. It will feel like resting your head on a cloud.
4) Soft Sheets
To finish the comfortable beds, we use soft sheets from Comfy. These have been designed to protect you against allergens. As they are wrinkle-free, your bed will always stay looking neat. Because of this, they have been scientifically proven to increase the amount of sleep you get.
5) Spacious Bedroom
We have put a lot of effort into designing each of our rental properties, making them as relaxing as possible. The bedrooms will be spacious, giving you plenty of space to spread out. All the amenities you’ll need will be at your disposal. But the best part is just out the window. You’ll be able to see the sandy beach. At night, you’ll be able to feel the coastal breeze and listen to the waves. What could be more calming?
